The Pandemic Bride

We’ve all had our own experiences with this pandemic. As a mom, partner and business owner- I feel like I’ve been on a roller coaster since March, and I hate roller coasters by the way. I feel unsettled, nervous, and sometimes downright depressed over the whole situation. Not to mention the loss of control we have all been experiencing. As a type A, Virgo, “my life is planned two years in advance” kind of girl - this has been the hardest pill to swallow. Given my own struggles, I can only imagine what planning a wedding during this time would be like.

I know you are feeling this too and I want you to know that I understand, sympathize and empathize. We have had brides cancel completely, reschedule for next year, push back the date a hundred times, have a mini-mony, get married in the backyard...you name it, we’ve seen it. We’ve rolled right along with all the changes and done whatever we can for our brides in their time of need. People ask what my covid policy is and the short answer is that I don’t have one. One bride lost her job and had to cancel and she asked for her deposit back. I gave it to her. One bride had to cancel and told me to keep the deposit for all the work I’d already done to help them, so I kept it. A few brides rescheduled for mini-monies and asked if I would come and just do them for their intimate ceremony so I did. I want people to remember that me and my business did whatever we could for them during this craziness. My team and I have taken off work, missed family functions and rearranged our schedules to help out. The beauty industry pros have banded together to help each other's clients in a way I have never seen before. Maybe if they get to reschedule, they’ll call us. Maybe they’ll recommend us to a friend. We can sleep well at night knowing we did what was right. That’s the soul of our business here and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

So, what do we do now? The future of my wedding business and your big day hinge on the desolation or uptick of a crazy virus and the rules and regulations set forth by our local governments. So much has been taken from us but there is one thing that we have gained: time. I’m reminded of the scene in Cast Away when Tom Hanks says “we live and die by the clock”, only to be stranded on an island with nothing but time to himself. Let’s just combine the clichés here and take our lemons, put on our big girl panties, pull ourselves up by the bootstraps and keep on keepin’ on. We’re going to take this time we’ve been given and we’re going to make the most of it.

While our brides are busy rescheduling, revamping and re-analyzing what’s most important to them about their wedding day, at The Pin Up Girl we are busy reinventing ourselves. I’ve always wanted to have a bridal prep program for my ladies but I never had the time to get it going. Now I do, so I’m doing it. We’re expanding our list of services so that we get to work with our beautiful ladies for more time than just their one big day. I’m putting all of my beauty, wellness, esthetics and alternative therapy knowledge into a program that will help you prepare for not just your wedding day but your life. I want you to wake up feeling great about yourself everyday. I want you to look in the mirror and love what you see. If you had to get married tomorrow in the face of a pandemic, no sweat, you’re ready. Your skin looks fabulous, your lashes are lifted and shiny black, and your brows are on point. Acne? Gone. Scars? Can’t see ‘em. Fine lines and wrinkles? Nowhere to be found. You are red carpet, white runner, first look, photo ready at the drop of a hat. No pounds of makeup to cover you up, just you, beautiful you - and you can do anything!

So, come along on this journey with us. Let’s reinvent together. You make a new and improved plan for your perfect day and we’ll get you ready to do it. We’ll support you at every step along the way. We promise to be there for you and we want you to be there with us too! Watch for more posts on exactly what we’re up to here at The Pin Up Girl.
