Eyelash Extensions

Updated: Nov 30, 2020

Here at The Pin Up Girl, we love a good lash. We get asked all the time about our own lashes as well as what our clients can do before the wedding to get their lashes looking great. If you are looking for something that lasts you through the honeymoon, eyelash extensions are for you. The photo above shows a snapshot of the process of getting lash extensions. A lash tech will isolate one of your own lashes away from the others and attach a single artificial lash hair to your own lash. It is a process and a full set usually takes around an hour. You can request a classic set, or a volume set. Each lash studio usually has their own set types and prices.

There are lots of benefits to wearing extensions. When you wake up in the morning, your face looks done. There is nothing to apply or take off each night. It opens the eyes and brightens up the face. For your wedding purposes, you won't need a strip lash or mascara. You can wear your extensions through your honeymoon and not worry about a thing.

Lash extensions are an investment. You will need to schedule out your appointments in advance for fills along the way if you intend to keep up with them. The extensions will fall off on their own one by one just like regular eyelashes shed. If you want to keep them looking good, you will need to schedule fills just like you would with your gel nails. If you don't want to keep up with them, you will schedule an appointment to have them removed professionally, or you can wait until they all fall by themselves, but you may be looking crazy towards the end of that situation. You never want to pull at your lash extensions. Doing so can remove your own lashes at the same time since the glue used is very strong. Pros will have access to remover that will make the process way smoother.

Lash extensions do not harm your own natural lashes. I know you have probably heard horror stories before, but you have to consider a few things here. First, you get what you pay for. If a price seems too good to be true, it probably is. Cheap extensions mean cheap supplies or an amateur application - two things that are a huge no no. You have to treat them nicely. You cannot wear eye make up every day and use make up remover on your eyes every night. You shouldn't stick your face under the hot running water of the shower and allow it to drag your extensions down and put stress on them. You can't work over top of a hot steam table at your job all day and expect that environment not to affect the glue holding on your lashes. Finally, don't pull! If you get a wayward lash, use a spooly brush to guide it back into place and call your extension pro with any concerns.

Our very own Brielle, my right hand man at The Pin Up Girl, is a lash extension specialist during the week at one of the Jersey shore's most popular boutiques. She is who we recommend to all our clients looking to invest in this service. You can find her at The Lash and Brow Boutique, 705 Brinley Avenue, Bradley Beach NJ. Call for an appointment and give them a follow on Instagram at lashandbrowboutique_ to see all their amazing work. The ladies can also help you with a lash lift and tint, as well as brow shaping and tinting.
